CALL FOR STUDENT POSTER PRESENTATIONS!
The 2010 Community Crime Prevention Conference is calling for student research posters relating to crime prevention. Posters will be displayed at the conference on September 11, 2010. Student authors will be expected to attend their posters during the poster session. This is an excellent opportunity to exchange research findings and receive feedback from professionals, practitioners and peers involved with crime prevention! All undergraduate, master’s, and Ph.D. students are eligible for the poster session, although there are limited poster spaces.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMITTING ABSTRACTS
Please submit an abstract for the poster session electronically to Sheena Chen at aspire@safecitymississauga.on.ca by 5:00pm on August 13, 2010. Abstracts that are received after this deadline will not be considered. Successful submissions will be notified by email by August 20th, 2010. Registration fee for student posters (including attendance of the conference) will be $30.00. Email correspondence will be directed to the first author of the abstract. A student must be the first author on the poster. Each student is only permitted to submit and be first author on one abstract. The sponsoring or supervising faculty member should be clearly indicated on the submission form. All research presented must be completed or in progress.
Abstracts should include the following information:
- Names of author(s), university/affiliation, email address of presenting author.
- Current student status (Undergraduate, Master’s, Ph.D.)
- The title of the article / poster must be included in the abstract.
- The abstract is limited to 200 words in length.
Abstracts will be reviewed by a SCM subcommittee with respect to the following criteria:
- Research Appeal: The subject is deemed important, timely and of interest to the audience.
- Clarity of Abstract: The purpose, objectives, and outcomes are clearly defined.
- Relevance to Crime Prevention: See www.safecitymississauga.on.ca to find out more about the conference themes.
- Diversity: The subject complements the suite of proposed presentation topics.
